BTS has grabbed the second place spot for most weeks at the top of Billboard’s Social 50 chart!
With the group grabbing the top spot on the recently updated chart for the week ending in July 1, BTS has now been at No. 1 on the weekly chart 29 times. They first hit the top on the chart in the ranking for the week of October 29 of 2016.
This is one more week at No. 1 than Taylor Swift, who previously held the record for the second-most weeks in the top spot with 28. Justin Bieber remains in first place with 161 weeks at No. 1.
Other K-pop artists on the Social 50 chart this week include SEVENTEEN at No. 16, CL at No. 42, and BLACKPINK at No. 50.
According to Billboard, the Social 50 chart is “a ranking of the most active artists on the world’s leading social networking sites. Artists’ popularity is determined by a formula blending their weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with artist page views and weekly song plays, as measured by Next Big Sound.”
BTS was recently recognized as a social media leader when they took home the Top Social Artist award at the Billboard Music Awards on May 21. They also won in the music category at this year’s Shorty Awards, an award show that recognizes excellence in social media.
Congratulations, BTS!
