After four years of an ongoing plagiarism lawsuit, Roy Kim has won once and for all.

The lawsuit began in 2013 when a songwriter named Kim Hyung Yong claimed that Roy Kim’s “Spring Spring Spring” had plagiarized his own CCM track, “Becoming a Landscape of God” (literal title). Roy Kim won the first trial in 2015, with the verdict being that the differences of the two songs outweighed their similarities. However, Kim Hyung Yong filed an appeal that year September, and the verdict on the appeal came out today, on June 22, 2017 KST.

On this day, the Fifth Department of Civil Affairs of the Seoul High Court rejected songwriter Kim Hyung Yong’s appeal, finally freeing Roy Kim of the plagiarism lawsuit.

A source from Roy Kim’s side stated, “We are happy that the truth was revealed through the law. We thank fans for believing in us during the long-running dispute. We will concentrate on making better music and performances.”

Meanwhile, Roy Kim will be going on a nationwide tour for his newest album “Blooming Season,” starting on June 24 in Seoul.
